Included with most copies of Selection Sixteen. Single for the album of the same name; no titles appear on this release, just the song "Do You Know Squarepusher". Future Gibbon Deep Fried Pizza This was my favourite Squarepusher album. Hard Normal Daddy is usually regarded as his best.

Tom is a multi-instrumentalist who samples his own playing. On this instrumental album you get both programmed and "real" drums, keyboards and bass. The bass is mostly fretless and there is a little guitar too. The rest of the song has strong bass playing, synths and breakbeats. In between there is some sampled drumming and fusion-y electric piano and bass. I can't wait to share my thoughts and read yours. Oh man! I only heard a few tunes but there all are amazing, Squarepusher's Theme, Tundra, and Theme From Ernest Borgnine please forgive the spelling of his name Tundra is one of the most dense tracks I ever heard, it takes you to another world, and has a really unique atmosphere.

Squarepusher's Theme is one of the most funny Tom's tracks I heard, with those crazy beats, and his bass jumping everywhere. This tune is full of energy, you know, like a young boy hanging out with his friends during holidays, or whatever. Theme From Ernest is an amazing piece of music too.

I really need to hear this album on CD Deep Fried Pizza is something I play to people who dont know sp, cause it incorporates his bass-guitar so well. Squarepusher Plays It's just so fun and like the title suggests is like a big mashup of everything Tom was about at the time. Theme from Goodbye Ronaldo is fucking beautiful. The begininng makes me think of some cheesy 70's cop show chase scene Something along the lines of Beastie Boys Sabotage video , and then it develops into this massive emotional piece of brilliance.

Deep Fried Pizza is just plain awesome. The bass at gets me every time. How the fuck do his fingers to that? For me there is like an infinite sadness coming out from this tune. Could you explain your feeling about that song? So fucking good. Better than hard normal daddy IMo. Why do I have a better appreciation of Theme from Ernest Borgnine now then when I first bought the album? Its like I started at the best, went off listened to some pretty good stuff, some mediocre stuff and some really really shit stuff.

Eventually coming full circle with a better appreciation for the best. Goodnight Jade is such a beautiful track, up there with Tundra for my favorite off this brilliant album. Tundra has this sad feeling too, but I really find the main synth line in Ernest Borgnine sadder! I agree with vasio, such a relaxing chill out feel good track. I love how in Windscale 2, the atmosphere seems so playful and happy in the beginning, then it seems to just swirl into a dark, chaotic mess with that second melody coming in But Feed Me Weird things woah, I have a new appreciation for this record.

I think when I 1st got "into" squarepusher one of my mates was already a big enough fan. He gave me all the "big" releases. Feed me, Go Plastic, Hard normal etc. I think I got too much to soon and as a result I skimmed over albums not really listening to them properly. I think I'm guilty of doing this with a lot of artists. But after a week of intense listening I can say I do love this album. There are some absolute masterpieces on this LP. I just find the whole thing so mellow, even with the beats and all I could sit in bed listening to this while I drift off to sleep.

Aug 25,  · Album reccomended to me by _rika. Squarepusher Theme reminds me of Bricolage with the combination of guitar and breakbeat, although I think here it's much better executed. Rather fitting of its name, Tundra is a track with a chilly atmosphere, mainly consisting of ambient with breakbeat occasionally thrown in.

  2. Mar 23,  · referencing Feed Me Weird Things, 2xLP, Album, CATLP, LP A bit of a landmark album, truth be told. Head straight for side C and the skittery headmash, "North Circular" - truly one of the best technical rhythms laid on vinyl of all time/5().
  3. The debut full-length from Squarepusher is quite a jazzy affair, especially for an album appearing on the Aphex Twin 's Rephlex label. It's no less experimental than the sonic terrorism employed by the Aphex Twin himself, but Feed Me Weird Things keys on Tom Jenkinson 's experience as a bassist. A perfect example is "Windscale 2," which begins and ends with a bass/percussion line rooted firmly in funk; 8/
  4. Feed Me Weird Things is probably the best all-around Squarepusher album there is. Musically it's the most diverse thing Jenkinson's done; there's a lot of jazz influence here, as with his other work, but there's also quite a bit of percussive-focused tracks, like "Dimotane Co /5(26).

  6. FEED ME WEIRD THINGS is a smorgasbord of differing forms of eclectic sound streams and follows a nonlinear path through various stylistic approaches. While the jazz tag gets used too liberally for SQUAREPUSHER's works, it is by no means incorporated into every track/5(2).
  7. Feed Me Weird Things is the debut studio album by English electronic musician Tom Jenkinson under the alias Squarepusher. It was released on 3 June by Rephlex Records. The album received positive reviews from critics and has been retrospectively cited as a landmark release in the drill 'n' bass subgenre.
  8. Debut album from a master of drum n bass and IDM, this album holds up very well today and will probably still be great for many decades to come. Fast-paced breaks mixed with mysterious, spooky-sounding jazz instrumentals, Squarepusher's style is very well-established within his first album/5(13).
